Master Guide to Stealing and Base Defense
Advanced strategies for stealing Bubus from other players and defending your own collection

Master Guide to Stealing and Base Defense
The PvP aspect of Don't Steal the Bubu adds excitement and risk to the game! This guide covers both sides: how to successfully steal from others and how to protect your precious collection.
Part 1: The Art of Stealing
When to Steal
Stealing should be strategic, not random:
Good Times to Steal:
- Owner appears AFK (away from keyboard)
- Owner is far from their base
- Base is unlocked
- You've scouted an escape route
- Server population is low
Bad Times to Steal:
- Owner is actively defending
- Multiple players are nearby
- You haven't upgraded speed
- Your own base is unlocked
- You don't need that Bubu type
Scouting Phase
Before attempting any theft:
- Visit Target Base: Pretend to be friendly
- Note Layout: Memorize where valuables are
- Check Defense Level: Look for upgrades
- Identify Escape Routes: Plan multiple exits
- Monitor Owner: Are they attentive?
The Heist
Execute your theft efficiently:
Step 1: Approach
- Don't run directly to the target
- Act casual initially
- Wait for the right moment
- Position near exit
Step 2: Execute
- Quick grab (press E or tap)
- Immediately start running
- Don't look back initially
- Use speed boost if available
Step 3: Escape
- Run to nearest boundary
- Use obstacles for cover
- Change direction unpredictably
- Return to your locked base
Advanced Stealing Techniques
The Distraction:
- Work with a friend
- One distracts owner
- Other steals quickly
- Split the reward
The Patient Thief:
- Wait near target base
- Owner eventually leaves
- Quick in-and-out
- High success rate
The Server Hopper:
- Find bases in low-pop servers
- Higher chance of AFK owners
- Less competition
- Easier escapes
The Trade Thief (Don't Do This!):
- Pretend to trade
- Steal during transaction
- Extremely unethical
- Will get you blocked
Risk vs. Reward
Consider before stealing:
| Risk Factor | Worth It? | Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Bubu | Rarely | Just collect naturally |
| Gold Bubu | Sometimes | Still easy to find |
| Diamond+ | Usually | If you really need it |
| Owner Active | Never | Wait or find another |
| Well Defended | Rarely | Costs more than gain |
Stealing Ethics
Remember, there are real players:
✅ Acceptable:
- Stealing from unlocked bases
- Taking duplicates
- Revenge stealing (they stole first)
- Trading afterwards
❌ Not Acceptable:
- Spawn camping
- Repeated targeting same player
- Stealing from obvious beginners
- Harassment after stealing
Part 2: Base Defense

Protect your base when offline:
1. Always Lock Your Base
